SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYBut Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. (Daniel 1:8)
What was Daniel to do? He was captive in a strange land and had been asked to drink wine and eat food that was against his godly teachings. If he compromised his faith his countrymen might never know, but God would, and he would! Daniel purposed in his heart that he would stay true to his God no matter what the cost. His answer to the prince of the eunuchs could have cost him his life, yet he remained true. Knowing not the outcome, Daniel took his stand. His God was in control! In the end it all worked out well for Daniel and his friends. They were given food that was acceptable to their standard, and they thrived. God had honored his servants. O that men and women, boys and girls would purpose in their hearts to live for God and be not defiled by sin! ~~~ DAILY BIBLE READING: Daniel 1-3
