SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYThen came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying, Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. (Isaiah 38:4-5)
In Isaiah 38, we have one of the greatest examples of answered prayer! The Lord had decided to call one of His servants, King Hezekiah, home. The Lord had sent the message of His intentions to the king by the Prophet Isaiah. The message was, “Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.” The message shocked King Hezekiah! Like you and I, Hezekiah knew that he would die some day, but the news of an imminent death was heart breaking. He then turned his face toward the wall and prayed unto the LORD. In his prayer, he recalled that he had “walked before God in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in God’s sight.” He wept sore. Before Isaiah could leave the courtyard, God told him to go back and tell the king that He had heard his prayer and saw his tears and would give him fifteen more years to live. God loves you, and cares for you. When we get to the place that our spirit is broken, and our heart is broken and contrite, our dear Lord will be listening to our prayers. He is touched by the feeling of our infirmities. (Hebrews 4:15) “He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.” (Psalm 102:17) If your heart is right with God, and you are praying in His will, you can expect the Lord to hear your fervent prayer! ~~~~
