An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

July 8

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYFor wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. (Proverbs 8:11)

When a young Solomon became Israel’s king he asked the Lord for wisdom and an understanding heart. Many would have asked for riches or fame, but not Solomon. He knew what he needed more. God granted his desire and he is known to this day as the wisest man that ever lived on this earth – besides the Lord Jesus Christ. I constantly see people in great difficulty because of a lack of wisdom. Many unnecessary burdens are borne, overwhelming debts are made, bad habits that ruin health are practiced, and choices that destroy relationships are made – all because of a lack of wisdom. Let’s ask God today for wisdom and an understanding heart. There is no substitute! ~
