An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

July 28

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYIn the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. (Isaiah 6:1)Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. (Isaiah 6:8)

Could it have been that Isaiah had his eyes upon the king so intently that he could only see the Lord after the king had died? Before Isaiah was able to minister to his people, he had to first take care of his own problems. He did not recognize his own sins until he saw God, high and lifted up. Upon seeing God, and hearing the proclamation of the seraphims, “Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts,” he cried, “Woe is me! for I am undone!” We can never get a clear vision of our sins, or of the perishing souls of others, until we get a vision of God.Upon being cleansed of his sins, Isaiah then heard the voice of the Lord calling him to minister to his people. Look to God today, there may be a work to which He is calling you! ~~~ DAILY BIBLE READING: Proverbs 28; Isaiah 5-6
