An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

July 24

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYIf thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. (Proverbs 24:10)

Two pines stood battered by the ice and snow. One was broken with its branches lying around, torn by the heavy weight upon them. The other one, carrying the same heavy weight, bent in a half circle with its top touching the ground. In times of adversity we will be as one of those trees. Will we bend, or will we break? The test of our strength is not the great heights that we attain; but rather, how strong we are during the time of greatest difficulty. Proverbs 24:10 says, “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.” We may bend low with the heavy load, but we must not break! “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me,” Paul said. During times of adversity, draw close to the Lord. Trust in Him, and He will bring you through the storm. ~~~
