An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

May 16

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYO give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever. (Psalm 136:26)
All twenty-six verses of Psalm 136 end with the words, “For His mercy endureth for ever.” Do you think the Lord is trying to get a point across to those who sing or read this Psalm? God’s mercy is so great. From creation to Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, from their journey through the wilderness to their heritage in the Promised Land God’s mercy is exhibited for all to see. Their unbelief and idolatry deserved judgment instead of blessing, yet the Lord was merciful. How many times have we deserved a beating, but received a blessing? Twenty-six times we are reminded that His mercy endures forever. God still issues His mercy today. His message of mercy is seen in John 3:16. He is ready and willing to forgive our terrible sins of the past, extend grace and mercy, and abundantly bless our lives on this earth. Thank God! ~~~
