An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

December 18

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYYea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. (James 2:18)

James presents a challenge: Show me your faith without your works. That’s really impossible. Although we cannot see faith, we certainly can see its results. The Israelite army could not see the faith of the shepherd boy, but when David stood victoriously beside the body of Goliath with Goliath’s head in his hand, they knew he had true faith. We may brag of our faith all the day long, but that doesn’t amount to a hill of beans if our faith does not produce works. Faith without works is dead! When men tore a roof off and let their sick friend down to where Jesus was, the Bible says that Jesus saw their faith. How did He see their faith? By their works! Examine your faith today. Does it produce works? The world does not just need to hear of our faith; they need to see it! ~~~
