An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

December 17

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYLooking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)

As we run this earthly race of life, we must keep our eyes upon Jesus. He is our inspiration and our encourager. He was there at the beginning, when we knelt at an altar of prayer. Since the moment of our salvation, He, through the Holy Spirit, lives in our hearts. From Heaven, Jesus now intently watches over our progress in this grueling, yet victorious race. When we find ourselves in need, He is ready and able to supply all our needs. As our Shepherd the Lord watches over us and protects us from all harm and danger. He will be there at the ending when we say our last good-byes, and breathe our last breath. When the faces of loved ones fade from the view of these mortal eyes, we shall then behold His radiant, smiling face and hear His lips proclaim, “Welcome home, faithful servant!” ~~~
