An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

December 8

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYFor the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (1 Thessalonians 4:16)

With great expectations I await this event! The blessed hope of the child of God is the soon return of our Lord Jesus Christ from Heaven. Why is it a blessed event? Firstly, on that glorious day I shall behold the face of Jesus! Oh to see Him, the one that purchased our redemption at Calvary! From that moment on, I will live with the Lord throughout eternity. Secondly, I shall meet my loved ones who have crossed over before me. Jesus will bring them back from Heaven with Him as their new glorified bodies will arise from the dead. Thirdly, my troubles and trials will be forever past! There will be no more sickness, nor pain, nor heartbreak after that day. Every morning I will arise with the thought, “This day could be the day that Jesus comes.” On one blessed morning, it will be reality! ~~
