An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

November 21

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYI beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)

In former days, godly men of old would bring animal sacrifices to offer unto God. Today, the Lord wants our bodies, minds and hearts instead of animals. Just as the Old Testament sacrifices were to be perfect, God requires holiness and complete dedication from us. At the moment of our salvation, the Holy Spirit takes residence within us. He changes the thoughts of our minds and hearts. Our values and priorities change as He makes us more like our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. By the renewing of our minds, we will become transformed from a worldly, selfish person into a beautiful, caring child of the King who loves God supremely and loves others as himself. Let’s go out today and let Jesus shine through us. That’s nothing more than our reasonable service to God! ~~
