An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

November 2

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYAnd Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. (Luke 23:43)

What a compassionate Savior we have! Just hours before Jesus said to the repentant thief, “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise,” both thieves had mocked Him (Matthew 27:44). Yes, the very thief who now turned to Christ on the middle cross and begged for mercy had earlier mocked His deity. What would you have done if you had been in Jesus’ place? Perhaps you or I would have condemned him to an eternity in Hell; however, the suffering Savior turned to that wretched sinner and offered him pardon! Oh, what love! The unmerited and undeserved love of our Lord reaches beyond our understanding and knowledge. It is no wonder that John Newton called His grace amazing! ~~
