An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

October 16

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYCome unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

In the New York harbor stands the Statute of Liberty with a welcoming light in one hand and an inscription which reads: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
Likewise, the gentle shepherd tenderly calls out to all those who are weary and burdened down with troubles and sorrows, “Come unto me…I will give you rest.” Jesus Christ does care about your problems. His concern is sincere; His compassion heartfelt. Are we, like the Savior, concerned about those who are unfortunate, burdened and broken? Reach out to them today! ~
