An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

October 15

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYWhat I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. (Matthew 10:27)

One of my favorite scripture verses is Matthew 10:27. This is not only a command from Jesus to His disciples, but it is also directed to us. When the Lord put me in the ministry at age 19 I began to seek for the Lord’s direction in the messages that I would deliver. I would never want to preach my ideas with my own wisdom. I know that every message must be God’s message, not mine; therefore I spend a considerable amount of time in prayer and meditation before deciding what His message is and then standing before a congregation to preach. Everyone Christian should be a witness for the Lord. As we spend that time with the Lord in solitude, He will speak to our hearts and let us know what to say. Spend time with the Lord alone each day and ask Him to give you a message for your friends and loved ones. Someone must win them to the Lord, and it might as well be you! ~~
