An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

October 9

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYThen he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6)

How many times have you tried to accomplish something and fell flat on you face in failure? Zerubbabel had the great task of rebuilding the temple after it had been destroyed and left in waste for seventy years. The Lord gave a message to Zechariah to give to Zerubbabel to remind him that he could not accomplish this great task if he relied upon his own might and power. This job could only be accomplished if he depended upon the Spirit of the Lord to empower him and lead him. Whatever the task before you today trust in the Lord, and rely upon His Spirit. The Lord will help you to accomplish what you never thought possible! ~
