An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

September 30

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYThough thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD. (Obadiah 4)

Throughout the ages men have tried to exalt himself above God, but they were always brought down to reality. Eve ate the fruit thinking she would be wise like God. Instead, she plunged the world into sin. Men built the tower of Babel thinking that they would reach Heaven their own way. They failed. Nebuchadnezzar walked through his place proclaiming his greatness. Immediately, God took away his intelligence and he grazed with the cattle for seven years. In the future, the antichrist will rise to world dominance. He will be wiped out at Armageddon. Yes, God will always humble those who exalt themselves. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will raise you up! ~
