An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

September 20

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYMy God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. (Daniel 6:22)

Our Heavenly Father specializes in doing things that others think are impossible. In Daniel, Chapter 6, the Lord takes care of His own servant, Daniel. Although Daniel knew the new decree had been signed outlawing prayer to his God, Daniel faithfully prayed just as he did before. Once discovered, he now faced the death penalty, the den of lions. God rewarded Daniel’s faithfulness when He shut the lion’s mouths so they did not hurt him. How would you have reacted? Would you still maintain your devotion at the cost of your life? Do you falter at the slightest threat of persecution? Today, you are serving the same wonderful God as Daniel. He will take care of you. ~
