An Upward Look
A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word
August 28
SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYTake thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned. (Jeremiah 36:28)
Jehoiakim, king of Judah, did not like what the word of God had to say so he burned the roll containing the word that God had given Jeremiah. The Lord said, “That’s no problem.” He instructed Jeremiah to take another roll and write the same words again. God’s truths can never be destroyed. Did King Jehoiakim think he could make the Word of God void by simply destroying the roll on which it was written? How foolish! When the roll turned to ashes and became unreadable God’s eternal word was still in effect. Observe and obey God’s word. Don’t disagree with it and destroy the writings. You can burn a Bible, but you cannot destroy His word! ~
