An Upward Look
A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYTherefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you. (Jeremiah 26:13)
A prayer of repentance will not only change you or I, it will change God! God had already pronounced judgment against Judah. By the prophecy of Jeremiah, He had revealed to them that they would be carried away to Babylon. However, God told them if they would change their lifestyle for good, and obey Him, that He would hear their cry and would repent of the evil He had promised. The word “repent” here implies that the Lord will have pity upon them and take their judgment away. God is a compassionate Savior. He would rather bless than chastise. He would rather forgive than judge. John 3:16, tells us that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son for us. It is because of God’s great love that prayer can change His mind and deter His judgment. What power prayer has! Try it. ~~~
