An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

August 24

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYIs not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? (Jeremiah 23:29)

Jeremiah tells of the false prophets who cried out, “I have a dream,” but their dreams were not from God. They were lies, leading people astray. Because of their false dreams Judah was destroyed and the survivors were taken into Babylonian captivity. For seventy years they would suffer judgment for their sins. Jeremiah, one of the few prophets who brought them the true word of God, was hated because he preached against their sins and told of God’s soon coming judgment. God’s word is so powerful! Many a hard heart has been convicted and melted by its truths. The truth sometimes hurts, but it is always good for us. Make sure that you read God’s Word daily. ~
