An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

August 15

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYBehold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. (Isaiah 59:1-2)
Sometimes when we pray and nothing happens, we want to point our fingers toward Heaven and blame God for not hearing us and taking care of our problems. Israel did that. The Lord told them through Isaiah there is something that stands between them and Him. He told them that there was a reason that He had hidden his face from them and would not bless them. He was not getting deaf, nor had His hand weakened. It was their sins that had come between them and Him! Sin will separate us and God. When we are living in sin, He will only hear our prayers on behalf of our repentance of those sins. Read God’s Word today and find out what sin is. Confess and forsake those sins. Then, and only then, will the Lord put His hand of blessing upon you and hear your prayers. ~~~
