An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

August 5

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYThou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. (Isaiah 26:3)

Early in life I observed people who seemed to fortified with a extraordinary peace that most did not have. Three things that I noticed about them all were: (1) They seemed to pray about everything, (2) they constantly read, studied and quoted the Word of God, and evidently, (3) they kept their minds on the Lord which was obvious since they continually talked about the Lord. God was a normal part of their life. I could tell that the Lord was interwoven in every fabric of their being. When they sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, they really meant it! They had such great faith! As I begin to study the Bible with great interest, I found out where their faith came from. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” When we faithfully attend the services in the house of God hearing His Word taught and preached, and we faithfully read, meditate and study the Bible daily, that wonderful perfect peace of God will fortify us troublous and difficult times. Try it; it works! ~~~~
