An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

August 2

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYBecause thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips: In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow. (Isaiah 17:10-11)

Anytime that a nation or an individual forgets the God of their salvation the result is not desirable. Israel had turned away from God and forgotten the source of their strength and blessings. America, once a lighthouse and blessing to the entire world, seems to be doing the same thing. We have forgotten the God of our salvation. Our leaders seem to be worse than godless; they are anti-God. Things that are holy and right are actively and strongly opposed. The Word of God and prayer are kicked out of our schools, government buildings and public squares. If we do not repent and get right with the Lord, our harvest will be “a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.” That repentance must begin in our churches, our homes and our hearts. Let’s pray, “Our Heavenly Father, let revival begin today in my heart!” ~~~
