SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYThe ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; (Proverbs 30:25)
Thomas Edison once said, “Invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.” Here in the book of Proverbs a diligent worker is compared to little ants which work faithfully in the summer coming and going to lay up food for the winter. Those tiny, annoying creatures can teach us a big lesson. In every facet of our lives there is a necessity of preparation. Spiritually, we must get ready to die before that time comes. Economically, we must lay aside for the emergency that eventually will come. Many households carelessly spend every dollar they earn on unnecessary items such as eating out, entertainment, and sports and then have no means to repair their car when it breaks down. In today’s society, we see those who are lazy bums, expecting the government to keep them up. God’s answer to them is “if any would not work, neither should he eat.” It is good and right to help the elderly and afflicted of our society, but those who are young and healthy need to learn the lesson of the ant. We as Christians must set a good example and diligently prepare for the future. Those who fail to prepare, prepare to fail. DAILY BIBLE READING: Proverbs 30; Isaiah 9-10
