An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

July 13

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYHe that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. (Proverbs 13:24)

Spanking may be old fashioned, but it is beneficial. And, it is godly! Those who do not discipline their children do not love their children as they should. If we parents really care about the welfare of our children in this world and the destination of their souls in the next, we will practice godly correction and discipline. A child without discipline will head down the path of destruction himself and often drag others down with him. Our prisons are full of men and women who received no godly discipline as a child. Parents who love their children will know where they are going, with whom they are, and what they are doing. They will set guidelines, boundaries and curfews. When appropriate, they care enough to discipline, using the paddle in love, not anger. A good spanking on the rear end will cure many a behavioral problem! ~~~
