An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

July 1

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYThe fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7)My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: (Proverbs 1:8)For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. (Proverbs 1:9)

Oh, how much trouble, how much shame, how much sin could be averted if only we would have learned the truth of these verses as youngsters. Those who have had the rich experiences in a long life could have shared much wisdom with us while we were young if only we would have listened, but many times youths just turn their ears from wisdom and instruction and then suffer greatly because of it. Let’s listen intently to the wisdom of moms and dads, and of those who have had great experiences in life. Cherish their instruction. Do not despise it. Some lessons are very costly when learned through experience; you may not want to pay the cost! ~
