An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

June 29

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYAnd said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. (Job 1:21)

After Job lost all that he had accumulated over the years of his lifetime he still blessed the name of the Lord! His thinking was that he had nothing when he came into this world, and everything that he had was given to him by the Lord, so if the Lord wanted to take it away it was OK. How do we react to setbacks? Do we complain when the slightest thing goes wrong? We must pray for the attitude of Job. He counted his blessing, not his burdens. Through sickness, financial setbacks, loss of friends, etc. Satan tries to discourage us. During those times, let’s just think of how truly blessed we are and thank God. ~
