An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

June 25

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYAnd at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps. (Nehemiah 12:27)

Music is usually associated with happiness. What a dedication there must have been when Nehemiah and his countrymen celebrated the completion of the wall of Jerusalem! In our churches today we find two problems with praise: (1) some have no praise at all in their “worship” services, and (2) others orchestrate mass praise services that do not come from the heart. When you go to church this Sunday, celebrate the sacrifice of Jesus, celebrate His resurrection, and celebrate His soon coming back for His church. Most of all you can celebrate what the Lord Jesus Christ has personally done for you. Never forget how He has saved you and how He keeps you from day to day. ~
