An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

June 24

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYThen he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)

The children of Israel had just gone through a very difficult time. After coming out of captivity, they had worked day and night rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem despite persistent opposition. Not only was the wall being rebuilt, but so also was their faith and their relationship with God. They were reminded that their strength came from God’s joy. Even in your times of difficulty, you will find strength in the joy of the Lord. Do not let Satan rob you of that joy. Count your blessings. While a few things may be going badly for you, you will find that your blessings outnumber your trials. Keep your mind on the good things of the Lord, praise Him even in trying times, and you will find that the joy of the Lord is truly your strength. ~~
