SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYThou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great. (2 Samuel 22:36)
We think of David as the gentle shepherd who led his sheep and his people with tender loving care. From where did this gentleness come? As David sings a psalm of praise in 2 Samuel 22, we can see that he acknowledged the gentleness of God. We have a God who is all powerful, ruling over the entire universe with supreme authority, yet He is loving and gentle. Here David attributes the gentleness of the Lord, not His great power, for making him great. In this busy rat race we are tempted to become angry and snap at people with unkind words, but today let’s remember the Lord’s gentleness and let it become part of our lives. ~
