SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYBut they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel. (2 Kings 21:9)
Hezekiah was one of the best kings of Judah; on the other hand, his son, Manasseh was one of the most wicked on record. It is written of Hezekiah that he “walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart”, but of Manasseh it is written that he “seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.” How can a father and son be so different? The truth is that God permits each of us to operate according to his own free will. Each of us may choose to walk with God, or to disobey and dishonor Him. It is our decision. We may want to blame other for our bad decisions, but we truly cannot. Manasseh was seduced by Satan to live an evil life; he did not have to follow. The people of Judah were seduced by their king to do evil; they did not have to follow. In the end they followed an evil leader, God in anger then declared, “I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance.” Others may entice you to sin, but you can continue to be faithful to the Lord because “greater is He that is within you than he that is within the world!” ~~~~
