An Upward Look
A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYI looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul. (Psalm 142:4)
One of the saddest statements of the Bible must be, “No man cared for my soul.” David prayed this prayer while hiding in a cave from King Saul’s wrath. He must have been a very lonely person with few true friends. He was hunted as a criminal by Saul and knew not if he would survive to see the sunrise. At that moment he had no idea what a great life God had planned for him: how he would become Israel’s greatest king, the beloved psalmist, and an ancestor of the Messiah. Remember, when you are in the valley and think no one cares, God knows your situation and He cares. Be faithful, victory is just ahead! ~
