SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYAnd it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. (2 Kings 2:9)
What would you ask for if you could ask for anything? Wealth? Health? Fame? Friends? When confronted with that decision Elisha asked for what he needed most, a double portion of the spirit of God! Elisha was asking for a ‘double portion’ from the man who was the most anointed prophet of his time. Elijah had prayed that it not rain and there was three and one half years of drought. He commanded fire to come down from Heaven. Again He prayed and it rained. He who raised the widow’s son was indeed anointed, yet Elisha desired twice as much of God’s spirit. Elisha asked for what he truly needed. Do we today ask for what we need to serve God, or for what we want to serve self? ~~
