An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

January 18

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYThou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great. (Psalm 18:35)

The Psalmist David told of experiencing two of God’s many great attributes: (1) His strength and (2) His gentleness. Many times we could not make it alone. Our strength is not enough. Our task is too daunting. At that moment we feel a power from above that helps us do the impossible, as we behold with amazement. On the other hand, the Lord leads us with the gentleness of a shepherd. When we are so frail that we are about to break in pieces, He gently shelters us in his arms and reveals to us His loving care. Think of His boundless love throughout the day and experience the strength and the gentleness of the Lord Jesus! ~
