An Upward Look

A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word

January 2

SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYAnd I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Genesis 3:15)

One of the darkest chapters of the Bible is Genesis 3. Eve is deceived, Adam also falls into sin, the tree of life becomes forbidden as they are driven from the Garden of Eden. However, among all this is the promise of redemption. Here in Genesis 3:15 God promises that the seed of the woman (Jesus) will someday defeat Satan. The bruising of the heel of Jesus refers to His sacrificial death, and the bruising of the head of Satan refers to his ultimate and final defeat as he is cast into the lake of fire. Aren’t you glad for that promise of hope to anyone who repents and trusts the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior? ~
