An Upward Look
A Daily Devotional Observation from God's Word
April 27
SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR TODAYAnd David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives. And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all. (1 Samuel 30:18-19)
When Ziklag fell to the Amalekites, David and his six hundred soldiers lost all they had, including their wives and children. Some of David’s men were very angry with him, threatening to stone him. David turned to God, and the Lord told him to pursue the Amalekites and that he would recover everything he and his men had lost. True to God’s word they caught up with the Amalekites, slew them, and recovered all. When we suffer great losses, we must turn to the Lord as David did. Bitterness and blame will only make things worse and will not lead to a solution of the problem. You may have fallen into sin and think it’s all over, but God is in the restoration business. He will forgive your sins, cleanse your heart, restore your soul, increase your faith, and strengthen your stand. Why? Because He loves you! ~~~
